Books In Stock offers a unique trading opportunity for anyone with an over-abundance of used books. Here's how it works:
1. Bring your books, as many as you want to trade or sell, to our front desk.
2. We'll take your books and check the condition and see if we already have copies of it in stock. We may not a book if it is in bad condition, or if we already have a copy. Just for your reference, here's some tips on books we don't accept:
- Books formerly owned by a library
- Text Books
- Romance Novels with a spine date over a year old
3. If you have less than 15 books, we should be able to check your books over while you wait. For those bringing in larger numbers of books, it usually takes about a day to get an accurate assessment.
4. After we've checked all your books, we'll give you 25% of the publishers price in trade credit. For example, a book priced at $20 by the publisher will net you $5 in trade credit.
You can then use your trade credit to buy books at Books In Stock. Trade Credit is Genre and Coverstock specific. In other words, if you trade in a hard cover fiction, you will receive trade credit for another hard cover fiction. If you trade in a paperback non-fiction, you'll receive trade credit for another paper back non-fiction. This trade credit is good for two years.
5. If you'd rather sell your books for cash, you'll get 12.5% of the publishers price. For example, if we can sell a book you bring in for $8.00, it would be worth $4.00 in trade credit or you would receive $1.00 in cash.
6. Being the literary junkies that we are, we truly wish that we could accept each and every book you bring us. Unfortunately, we have to turn some books away. If you want those books back, you may pick them up when they have all been checked. If you don't want them, we'll pass these poor book orphans on to Goodwill, the American Association for University Women or the Girl Scouts. |
